Greeting and welcome to Aurally Fixated, and thank you for sharing this magnificent, eighth day of August with me. It’s magnificent because we aren’t (completely) dead yet. We still get to appreciate; everyone we love, warm summer nights, kittens and puppies, shooting stars, lazy-days and exciting vacations, drugs and kinky-sex, and everything else great about life. Momento Mori my Aural family, and I hope that you have a most joyful Happiness Happens Day!

We began with The Vocal Stylings of Imani Coppola serenading us with a ballad of her Happy Little Toothbrush. Then came, from Leo Metal Covers Volume 23 and a compilation of just children songs, and Frog Leap Studios (and youtube) Leo Moracchioli with If You’re Happy and You Know It.

So yeah, now lets just get this out of the way

0:05:45 Don’t Worry, Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin off of Simple Pleasures

0:10:30) I Got You (I Feel Good) by James Brown off of Out of Sight

0:13:10 Chemical Warfare (Don’t It Feel Good) a Katrina & The Waves and Slayer mash-up by Bill McClintock

0:16:35 (Music to try and make Rev’s big mouth sound better 2: Thimble Man by Lazerbeak off of Lava Bangers)

AahhhWalking On Sunshine … in that Chemical Warfare. Who knew all we needed was a little Slayer / Katrina & The Waves mash-up?! And once again by Bill McClintock. You may remember him from The Family Day Episode back in May with the Danzig/Temptations or June’s Anti Drug Abuse episode with Michael Jackson/Eric Clapton. Before that was James Brown with I Got You (I Feel Good). And naturally how could Happiness Happen without Bobby McFerrin’s Don’t Worry, Be Happy. Pursuing happiness is our most important natural right. In fact studies show that the only thing more important than your happiness – is mine.

0:18:00) Just Feels Good by Imani Coppola off of Hypocrites

0:21:35) Fresh Air by Brother Ali off of US

0:25:15) Feel Good, Feel Better, Feel Wonderful by Prince off of LOtUSFLOW3R

0:30:15) Ring of Joy by Pansy Division off of Pileup

0:33:10 (Music to try and make Rev’s big mouth sound better 3: Bully by Lazerbeak off of Lava Bangers)

Threes a lot to unpack there. Butt first; we had Ms. Imani Coppola again, this one Just Feels Good and was from her Hypocrites album. After that we had Brother Ali. From US we heard Fresh Air. Then we were graced with Prince telling us to “Feel Good, Feel Better, Feel Wonderful.” Then bringing up the rear came the Pansy Division giving us their Ring of Joy.

Unfortunately in life we often don’t count the little things that make us smile throughout our days. Our scared little monkey-brains remember the bad more because “Evolution” tells us being safe is more important than being happy, so we more often remember the hurt. I hope today reminds you to take note . The most blessed are those who remember to count their blessings. And in the spirit of that, this.

0:35:10) Potato Song (Cuz I Want To) by Kesha off of High Road

0:38:35) Enjoy Yourself (It’s Later Than You Think) by Louis Prima off of Beepin’ & Boppin’

0:41:10) Happy Phantom by Tori Amos off of Little Earthquakes

0:44:20) (Music to try and make Rev’s big mouth sound better 4: Eleventh Hour by Lazerbeak off of Lava Bangers)

We started that cluster of melodies off with She who is perfect for high-jinks and low-lives; Kesha reminding us to live life to the fullest. From her High Road we picked the Potato Song (Cuz I Want To). Then came King Louis Prima renovating the old tune, Enjoy Yourself (It’s Later Than You Think). And that tiny seismic event that ended it all was the Happy Phantom herself, Tori Amos.

Now my loves I hope that on today, Happiness Happens Day, you take a moment or three to take stock of your life and think about the things that make you happy, and share some of your joys with others. This can be difficult though because happiness means different things to different people.

0:45:35) Happiness Is by Violent Femmes off of Freak Magnet

0:49:45) I Feel So Good by John Lee Hooker off of We’re Cooking

0:53:54) Violently Happy by Bjork off of Debut

0:58:40) Feeling Good by Muse off of Origin Of Symmetry

1:01:50 (Music to try and make Rev’s big mouth sound better 5: Sweat Set by Lazerbeak off of Lava Bangers)

It feels like a sin to play other version than Nina Simone’s. Especially when its a bunch a pasty Brits doing the re-inovating, but admittedly the Muse put their own pretty little stank on it. Before we were Feeling Good we were Violently Happy with Bjork. And immediacy preceding that we had John Lee Hooker with I Feel So Good. And we began listing to the Violent Femmes trying to figure out just was Happiness Is.

Well, now how about something a little different, from Karsh Kale this is Smile.

1:03:30) Smile by Karsh Kale off of World Music – Summer Party

0:09:25) Gummy Bear Song (English) Remix by Gummibär off of I Am Your Gummibear

1:11:30) Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy by Wax off of Saturday Morning Cartoons’ Greatest Hits

1:15:00 (Music to try and make Rev’s big mouth sound better 6: Ghostdust by Lazerbeak off of Lava Bangers)

That was from a California band called wax, and a compilation album that was a tribute to, and titled, Saturday Morning Cartoons’ Greatest Hits. If you’ve heard the Sublime cover of Hong Kong Phooey, or Violent Femmes doing Eep Opp Ork Ah-Ah (Means I Love You), or the Ramones Spider Man, it was from there.
Some other gems on it were; Face To Face – I’m Popeye The Sailor Man – Butthole Surfers – Underdog –  Helmet’s Gigantor –Reverend Horton Heat’s Jonny Quest / Stop That Pigeon, et-cetera,  et-cetera.

Before that, from Germany place-place of all gummy-bears, we had an I’m A Gummybear Remix, by Gummibär. Life is better when you don’t take yourself, or too many things, too seriously. And if and enjoyed that you might also like his cover of Blue (Da Ba Dee)

I hope Happiness Happened here for you today. If so go out and spread it! Make someone smile and acknowledge the folks who make you. You have the power to brighten peoples days. And so I’ll leave you with a Smile. Written by Charlie Chaplin and poured into this reality like silk-honey by ol’ Nat King Cole  .
