Welcome to that uniquely strange day caught between yesterday and tomorrow. Somehow both the most reflective and mindless square on the calendar. The very last-night when we throw another 365 back over our shoulders onto our ever-growing pile of Past. Tom Waits knows nothing lasts forever hence him askingHow’s It Gonna End.” But always always try and remember, like Imani Coppola, we can always try to have Hope For The Future.

That was Cop Shoot Cop from their White Noise record. Before which we heard St. Vincent telling us to Fear The Future, which following after Jonathan Coulton’s sci-fi ballad The Future Soon, so perhaps she has good reason to be afraid. And we started with one from Imani Coppola’s Afro-dite album. And now here’s Ray Charles and Willie Nelson covering Frank Sinatra.

0:37:00 (Music Rev. ruins by talking over 3: Beginning of Elegy for a Solitary Year by Jill Tracy off of A Medicine for Madness: The 2020 Isolation Piano Recordings)

That group was called This Way to the Egress. And that was Sour Grapes (New Year’s Eve Song). Immediately preceding that we had an ode to our greatest teacher and worst enemy, Time by that insane lad David Bowie, who must’ve been going through a Jacques Brel phase at the time.

This time of year it’s pretty impossible not to think about the things we want to change in the upcoming year. The idea is like the air, so ubitiquous you hardly notice, but still seeps into you… And one can’t live without change. But did you ever notice the “Self-improvement” goals everyone trades back and forth never involve helping other people. Donating money to charity, or volunteering at the food pantry. Or giving up something the less well-off might call a “luxury” that causes pollution. I wonder why we never include those things when we talk about bettering ourselves? Must be something in the air.

0:51:50 (Music Rev. ruins by talking over 4: 4 O’clock Reprise by Emilie Autumn off of Fight Like a Girl)

From Question The Answers that was The Mighty Mighty Bosstones with a number called 365 Days. Right before that we heard  Louis Prima featuring Sam Butera talking about how There’ll Be No Next Time. Then jumping back we had Mary J Blige telling us ForEver No More from No More Drama. Then was Otis Redding and Carla Thomas singing about their New Year’s Resolution. That was where I was going to start that set but I played Air from the Hair. Sometimes  you just got play a musical.

If you’ve been here before you’ve heard from the many sides of Ceschi Ramos, but that was the first time we played metal-Ceschi. That was the Ramos Brothers and DEAD BY WEDNESDAY with Yesterdays from Democracy is Dead. Before which we heard II. earth: the oldest computer (the last night) from Childish Gambino feat. Azealia Banks. Before which heard from The Urban Voodoo Machine helping us say Goodbye To Another Year. And we started off with a number from the original broadway cast of Into The Woods. That was Bernadette Peters belting out Last Midnight.

So here’s to a new year and taking all those things we put off throughout last and to putting them off for Another Year

1:23:45 (Music Rev. ruins by talking over 6: Sweat Set by Lazerbeak off of Lava Bangers)

That was Piñata Protest. From El Valiente that was Tomorrow, Today. Before that we heard the Guy Lombardo version of Enjoy Yourself (It’s Later Than You Think). And yes I remember I played the Louie Prima version back in August for Happiness Happens DayJust before that we heard from Alan Watts. And we began it all off with one from the person Who Killed Amanda Palmer, that one was entitled Another Year.

I guess it’s time to start winding down. You’ve got a whole new year to prepare for, and it’s been too long a December.

That was Chris Smither, who you may remember form October’s Food Day episode when he sang about a veritable cart and having No Love Today. But here he realized I Am The Ride. Before that we had a bluesy Dog Fashion Disco tribute to Bill Hicks with End Of The Road. Then before that, from the man himself telling us that life is It’s Just A Ride, from his Revelations special in London from 1993. And we began it all off with The Scarring Party telling us that The Party’s Over, from their End Times album. And they are right, that’s about it. I am going to leave you with DeVotchKa Telling us How It Ends
