0:00:01) Dancin With Myself by Krizz Kaliko off of Kickin’ & Screamin’

0:03:20 (Rev talking over Silverwood Springs by Factor Chandelier off of Factoria)
Hello all you crazy kids of all ages wherever you are; whether dancing on the dance floor or just drinking by the bar. I can almost see you from space, shining like stars as you trip the light fantastic. Tiz I Rev. Still in exile broadcasting from my makeshift lighthouse on the dark half a la moon. This day I have turned off all the brights to be bathed in just the flicker and flashing sensor lights. It’s easy to dance like nobody is watching when there’s not another soul for a half a million miles. But today I am excited because I get to dance with you, through time and space. So thank you for sharing these moments with me. I know it’s easier to listen to things you already know or have the algorithm decide for you. But who want’s things to be too easy. By being here proves you have a sense of adventure! And that’s just one of the things I love about you. You are as Aurally Fixated as I.
Speaking of which, we started by Kickin’ & Screamin’ the doors of this episode right off the hinges with Krizz Kaliko taking about Dancin With Myself. And my fellow track addicts, let’s officially start the meeting.

Nothing like A Little Revolution to get you up moving. We started that block off with Firewater, from their International Orange! Record, with one called Dead Man’s Boots. It’s been far too long since Mr. A has given us anything to grind our gears to.
After that we heard from The Orphans, Erik Petersen band previous to Mischief Brew. Most of their stuff is more punk than folk. This one however was What Reason Have They To Dance? Then stomping straight outta the Land of 7 Billion Dances came The Coup. The dancing in that music video will mesmerize you. That one was from the album Sorry To Bother You. The seeds of the Boots Riley film of the same name.
And lastly splashing through the sound waves came TigerMan Woah! bearing Bread & Roses. And how can one not love using that wonderful old Emma Goldman paraphraseation as a song-skeleton? I haven’t said it officially yet but today, the Twenty Ninth Day of April, is International Dance Day! So get up, feel the rhythm, do what the music commands, and understand it in a whole new dimension. Meld with the art forms.

I hope that something in there helped get you moving. We started by Breakin’ the Dance Floor with the prolific, versatile, and brilliant Ms. Imani Coppola. And then along came poet, musician, actor, and someone I don’t play enough of, Saul Stacey Williams. Back on the first of some February I played a great one by him called Black Stacey and am sure I must’ve forgotten to mention his middle name. But after our Dance with Mr. Williams we had a bit about Dance Clubs from Saint Bill Hicks which was followed by the also criminally underplayed This Way to the Egress. With them we danced a 6 Count Swing. And finally we had a Polkadot Cadaver take us to the Purgatory Dance Party.
Sometimes we all feel like we’re in Purgatory. Just remember, “life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass It’s about learning to dance in the rain.” Unless youre on HD 189733b where it rains molten glass. Ugh – And that awful methane presentation on Titan. And sure, Neptune’s diamond raindrops sound pretty but imagine those hard little buggers pouring down on you! I guess WASP-76b has a silver lining, it’s Iron showers stain the sky with a rainbow. Kinda. Anyway, I hope we get to go dancing in the H20 earth-rain again someday soon. Enough of all this Purgatory talk! Let’s exercise these demons. And what better exercise is there than dance?

0:53:45 (Rev. talking over First Prelude by Factor & The Chandeliers off of Factor & The Chandeliers EP)
Yes, Yes, absolutely yes! That was Thumpasaurus, from their self-titled album, explaining to us about their dance therapy. That was called I’m pissed. Before that we did the Dance Twist by the tragically defunked Cambodian Space Project.
“Dance, when you’re broken open. Dance, if you’ve torn the bandage off. Dance in the middle of the fighting. Dance in your blood. Dance when you’re perfectly free.”
Before the Cambodian Space Project we heard one that always get’s me into the pit, Devils Dance Floor by Flogging Molly!
And we started it all off by Dancing the Devil Away to the Arden-Ohman Orchestra.
0:55:15) Ka’s Mos Dance by Solillaquists of Sound off of 4 student counsōl • (running from precedence)
0:58:45) Music and Life by Alan Watts
1:01:35) Dance, Mother Fucker, Dance by Violent Femmes off of Add It Up (1981-1993)
1:04:55) Dance Off by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (Ft. Idris Elba off of This Unruly Mess I’ve Made
1:08:50) My Own Dance by Kesha off of High Road
~
1:11:40) Rev. words ruining The Grave (Burial) by Factor off of Woke Up Alone)
If you’ve been here before you shouldn’t be surprised to hear the dance commander who commands us to dance, Kesha. From her wonderful album High Road, that was My Own Dance. And good for you Kesha, don’t take Idris Elba’s bait. Yes, immediately preceding Ms. Sebert that was; actor, DJ, singer, rapper, and knight Sir Idris Elba… And Anderson .Paak, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. It’s one of those songs I don’t know if I like the song or just the video. It’s impossible to separate them in my mind.
Remember when everyone made fun of Macklemore for texting Kendrick Lamar and apologized for winning the grammy? And when he was labeled a try-hard for using his platform to confront his white fans and make them take an uncomfortable look at their white-privilege? And for trying too hard to be an ally. Pre-Trump America was weird.
But anyway, before that we heard from the Violent Femmes with one from their Add It Up album that shattered the peaceful meditations of Alan Watts with Dance, Mother Fucker, Dance!
And we started it all off with the Solillaquists of Sound first fledgling steps as a band, before they truly hit their stride maybe, but still pretty damn good. We heard Ka’s Mos Dance.
Now we only have time for a couple more. One is going to be and amazing one called Know The Dance by Ideamen off of their Progress EP. And the other needs no introduction. You know the one, about coming out of a black-out on the dance floor. Dizzy, can’t see straight. People just a blur all around you. You don’t know the name of the club you’re in, where your keys, phone, drink, or people you came with are… Don’t remember how your clothes got inside out. But you feel so alive you can’t help but keep on dancing.
If you never been there I’m sorry for you. But the good news is they made a kids game out of it, which is just as good!
Thank you again for sharing these moments with me. Take care of yourself. Dance. Take care of each other. Encourage them to dance! Until Next time or never, whichever comes first.
