Listen Phuckers!

0:00:01) We’re A Happy Family by Ramones off of Rocket To Russia

ramones

0:02:35 (Music behind Rev.’s First Interruption: Just Another Sucker On The Vine by Tom Waits off of Swordfishtrombones)

I’m sure I don’t have to tell you is that we rocketed our way into this episode with the Ramones assuring us that “We’re A Happy Family.”  So happy fifteenth of May, family! The International Day of Families episode! And, thankfully, because of which we get to hear Ceschi love and appreciate his mama, because of course he does. But it’s still Ceschi so it has to come with the reminder This Won’t Last Forever.

0:04:20) This Won’t Last Forever by Ceschi off of Broken Bone Ballads

0:08:20) Runs In the Family by Amanda Palmer off of Who Killed Amanda Palmer

0:11:05) Bone Mother by The Ford Theatre Reunion off of Famous Monsters

0:17:30) Mama by My Chemical Romance off of May Death Never Stop You

FTR

0:22:00 (Music behind Rev.’s second interruption: The Bat by Alvino Rey off of Hipster Halloween)

We just got done hearing My Chemical Romance and their Mama. Right before that was the first song I ever heard from the always glorious Ford Theatre Reunion. It was on a Farmageddon Records Sampler they give away for free on bandCamp – a stand-out on a killer compilation! I bought the entire Ford Theatre Reunion discography for $28.80 the very next time I was around the internet. We heard Bone Mother. And leading into that we had Amanda Palmer with Runs In the Family. And we waltzed into that set to a Broken Bone Ballad from Ceschi entitled This Won’t Last Forever.

Run-The-Jewels

0:24:00) Daddy by AJJ off of Candy Cigarettes, Capguns, Issue Problems! and Such

0:25:50) Mother Was a Rolling Stone a Danzig and The Temptations Mash-up by Bill McClintock

0:29:35) Family Portrait by P!nk off of Missundaztood

0:34:25) Oh Mama by Run The Jewels off of RTJ3

0:38:05 (Music behind Rev.’s third interruption: Voyage to Tarnihan by Diego’s Umbrella off of Viva La Juerga)

We began with Andrew Jackson Jihad (which is long for AJJ) from Candy Cigarettes, Capguns, Issue Problems! and Such singing about their Daddy. After which we had The Temptations / Danzig mash-up Mother Was a Rolling Stone by a Bill McClintock. Then came one from P!nk called Family Portrait. And we capped it off with Run The Jewels with Oh Mama, from their third album

If you remember back to March our 3.14 / Numbers show, we teleported back to Northern Ireland in the early 80s to hear a group called Cruella De Ville. Well, I hope you liked them because here’s another gem of theirs about their Drunken Uncle John.

Gogol

0:39:35) Drunken Uncle John by Cruella De Ville off of Drunken Uncle John – Single

0:41:50) My Strange Uncles From Abroad by Gogol Bordello off of Super Taranta!

0:47:05) Third Uncle by Bauhaus off of The Sky’s Gone Out

0:51:10) Your Auntie Grizelda by The Monkees off of The Best Of The Monkees

0:53:35) I Fucked My Aunt by The Lonely Island featuring T-Pain off of The Wack Album

0:56:05 (Music behind Rev.’s fourth interruption: Something Wicked (pt. 2) by Squirrel Nut Zippers off of Beasts Of Burgundy)

As mentioned we started off with Cruella De Ville’s Drunken Uncle John. Then came (what Triumph The Insult Comic Dog must be up to these days) Gogol Bordello and their Strange Uncles From Abroad. Followed by a wonderful blast from the past with Bauhaus and their Third Uncle. Then shifting away from the avuncular we had The Monkees with Your Auntie Grizelda. And finally we heard one called I Fucked My Aunt by The Lonely Island and featuring T-PainNow we move ahead with Ms. Marilyn Monroe.

Busdriver

0:57:30) My Heart Belongs To Daddy by Marilyn Monroe off of Let’s Make Love

1:02:25) Passive Manipulation by The White Stripes off of Get Behind Me Satan

1:03:00) Unplanned Parenthood by Busdriver off of Temporary Forever

1:04:35) Family Man by Black Flag off of Family Man

1:05:55) Papa Won’t Leave You, Henry by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds off of Henry’s Dream

1:11:45 (Music behind Rev.’s fifth interruption: Shotgun (Re-Recorded / Remastered) by Billy Preston off of The ’60s Hits)

That of course was Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds with Papa Won’t Leave You, Henry. And before Henry’s Dream we had Henry Rollins with the titular track from the bizarre Black Flag album Family Man. And speaking of brilliant, often difficult-to-penetrate, avant-guardians of the underground, before waving the Black Flag we took a trip to Unplanned Parenthood with Busdriver. That was from his mind-blowing 2002 project Temporary Forever. Before all that madness we had Meg White taking the vocals with a very little ditty called Passive Manipulation. And finally, we started it all off with Marilyn Monroe confessing that “My Heart Belongs To Daddy.”

1:14:05) Mama’s Got A GirlFriend Now by Ben Harper off of Welcome To The Cruel World

1:15:30) Kissin’ Cousins by Elvis Presley off of 50 Worldwide Gold Hits Vol. 1

1:18:40) Banjo Odyssey by Dead South off of Good Company

1:21:55) I’m My Own Grandpa by Willie Nelson off of Rainbow Connection

1:25:15) Grandad’s Little Ditty by Primus off of Sailing the Seas of Cheese

1:25:45) GrandFather by Stephen Lynch off of SuperHero

1:28:20 (Music behind Rev.’s sixth interruption: Stay Crunchy by Ronald Jenkees off of Disorganized Fun)

We slid into that family-sized stack of sound-waves with Ben Harper from the first of his more than dozen releases, and all the way back in the mid-90s, that was the absolutely delightful Mama’s Got A GirlFriend Now. Following that we of course had Elvis Presley explaining his view on Kissin’ Cousins. And after that rationalization we went on a Banjo Odyssey, Dead South. Then Willie Nelson restored some sanity explaining how “I’m My Own Grandpa.” A song I first heard from the Muppets. Then from when people would have to listen to everything on an album we heard Grandad’s Little Ditty by Primus off their Sailing the Seas of Cheese record. And finally we caped it, with a true SuperHero, Stephen Lynch, singing us a sweet ballad about his GrandFather.

And finally, here’s GrlWood with I’m Yer Dad from Daddy. But that’s too negative to leave you with and too good not to play, so then will come Kirsten Nevig with Mama May.

1:32:25) I’m Yer Dad by Grlwood off of Daddy

1:34:50)Mama May by Kirsten Nevig
